During the Vietnam War, COSDIV-11 was a unit of the U.S. Navy's Coastal Surveillance Force. They patrolled Vietnam's coastal waters, earning them the nickname “Numbah One Watchdog”. Snoopy the dog symbolized the unit's role as a vigilant "watchdog" over the coastal areas.
